Yayasan Heka Leka and Bahasa Basudara are proud to announce that Yayasan Heka Leka has been licenced as The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Centre, an organisation that can deliver the award to their young people in the organisation. This is the first Award Centre located in the Eastern part of Indonesia.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award started in the United Kingdom but is now conducted in over 130 countries with over 1.3 million participants annually. In Indonesia, there are currently 15 other Award Centres, all of which are international schools, private schools, youth organisations and large universities in Java, Bali and Lampung islands.

The internationally recognised award is given to participants aged between 14 and 24. Participants must complete four equally important areas of activities: physical activities; volunteering; skills and adventurous journey. They can achieve three different levels bronze, silver, or gold.

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global framework for non-formal education and learning, which challenges young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world. Through developing transferable skills, increasing their fitness levels, cultivating a sense of adventure and volunteering in their community, the Award helps young people to find their purpose, passion and place in the world.” (Source Duke of Edinburgh International Award website www.intaward.id).
